Mario Jozic for Ward 4

Committed to building a stronger, more inclusive London community

Meet Mario Jozic

Since arriving in London at age 10, I have been very fortunate to call the Forest City my home. After graduating from Catholic Central High School, I went to the University of Western Ontario and achieved a Master’s Degree in Economics and Political Theory. During my early years, I came to recognize London as a city of growth, renewal, community support, and opportunity.
Since then, I have been actively involved in the community through business ventures and charitable programs. After opening the London Wine Bar in 2015 and a construction company in 2016, I was fortunate enough to meet Londoners from all walks of life and truly appreciate the diversity of this city. Although London is a modern and vibrant city, we face many challenges including poverty, homelessness, lack of attainable housing, and a clear vision for the city.
In 2020, I started a program through the London Wine Bar called “Feed the Front Line Workers.” We accepted donations from Londoners and brought meals to various organizations throughout the city, including hospital staff, Men’s Mission, Ronald McDonald House, nursing homes, and more! We have delivered thousands of meals throughout the city since we started the programs. The overwhelming generosity of Londoners and their willingness to support their community made me realize that, with the right leadership, we have all the tools necessary to face the challenges ahead of us, while simultaneously promoting and growing so many aspects that make London such a wonderful city to live in.
My vision for London requires leadership that is ready to acknowledge the challenges that face us now, and in the future. Councillors need to be held more accountable and decision-making should closely reflect the needs of our neighbourhoods.

Our Vision

As residents and taxpayers, you have the right to know how your tax dollars are being spent and what benefits and services those tax dollars bring to Ward 4.

I propose a comprehensive and transparent Community Involvement Plan that would identify and promote the needs residents of Ward 4, including: – More community centers, public spaces, and indoor activity areas. – Community safety – Promoting and incentivising small business growth in Ward 4 – Environmental awareness, preservation and beautification of green spaces, and promoting canopy distribution throughout the Ward – Working with construction developers to promote growth, business development, and environmental awareness.

The results of climate change will only get worse if these issues are not addressed. Climate change is also a local matter and there are simple solutions to alleviate theproblem. I am committed to investing in green initiatives such as increasing cyclinginfrastructure, tree planting in neighbourhoods to increase London’s canopy coverage, green housing retrofitting, and environmentally sustainable developments like West 5.

Property Taxes

The cost of living in London is high, especially with the increase in housing costs, gas prices, and inflation. It costs more to heat your home, feed your family, and drive to work. If elected, I commit to finding alternative cost saving measures and promote careful examination of the city’s funding plans in order to ensure that London maintains a high standard of public services while simultaneously ensuring that we alleviate the property tax anxiety faced by many home-owners.

Council has targeted 3000 new affordable housing units by 2026 but the number of Londoners on the waiting list is over 6000. As an owner of a construction company, I am unfortunately familiar with the lack of knowledge and vision of this current council on the issue of housing.

We need to promote building new and affordable housing by: - Eliminating the red-tape bureaucracy and making it easier for developers and homeowners to convert single-family homes into multi units, as well as build new housing units. - Incentivise developers to include more affordable housing in their new developments. -Push vacant properties back into the market. -Adjust the current housing plan and ensure that our target goals will be sufficient to meet demand. - Commit a portion of space in London’s urban growth boundary to building smaller, affordable units instead of larger single family homes.
